It is one Herculean task to find a female R&B artist who has it all – the image, the voice and the ability to use it well, the drive, the mental sharpness to learn new material during recording sessions, the right attitude, and the ability to write great tunes with great lyrical content, melody, and hook. Aphro, born Aphrodite Mitchell on November 22nd to Puerto Rican and Trinidadian parents doesn’t just have these traits. She can also rap just as good as any rapper out there making her one of a kind. Aphro, another artist introduced to Pius by Yetti-Murl a rap artist signed to the label, visited DigiSonic studio at our LaVista Records camp to feature on one of Yetti’s songs. That was when Pius heard Aphro and persuaded her to join the label.
Currently, Aphro has featured on quite a few hip-hop songs and has started working on her own project, which is coming out soon to a store near you. Aphro has that innocent and yet erotically exotic look, and sexy flair, with the elegance and finesse of a Caribbean queen. Her charismatic rap style is totally unique precipitated by punchy metaphors and lines that are rather sexually engulfing capturing and captivating her audience like an amoeba would engulf its prey. Ppppleeease don’t hurt me. I can here the men stuttering and soliloquizing. Yes, she’s got it like that. Mama’s got it like that. |
